17/82010 Tuesday Merluna – Weipa Day 13

Sunrise at Merluna

Great sunrise this morning as we did not have to rush to get away today. On the road at 8:00am today as we have a mine tour booked for 11:00 at Weipa so it will take a couple of hrs to drive there. Another hot day and the road is very dusty as not much wind to blow it away. Little Ian in the lead and Budd's tail end and we had to hang a long way back to keep out of everyones dust. So far the trip is running very well. Well we made it by 9:30am nice and early into camp.

By the time we had set up it was time to catch the bus for the town and mine tour. The tour was very good and we saw a lot of the mine from the bus

We were back in camp for lunch and we did some washing while there were not to many people around. Sat around the camp ground as it was very hot then we decided to go for a swim in the pool.

It was so nice there we stayed for awhile tying to cool off before we walked to the shop for an ice cream. By this time it was happy hr so out came the drinks and nibblise while we watched a guy try and fix his car as he did a diff, coming over the Frenchmans track now he has to do the rest of the cape in 2 wheel drive.

We had a bit of entertainment in the camp tonight as there were 2 roosters attaching kids so one of the guys caught them and disposed of them.

After tea we all sat around talking and having a cup of tea from our tea pot that comes camping with us everywhere.

Ian McKinley got the shackle tonight as he borrowed little Ian's phone and tried to ring his number but could not get through I wonder why.
